Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley just announced their first project together since The Vampire Diaries. The fan-favorite duo will star in a new drama series heading to a major streaming platform.

The Vampire Diaries stars return in a new TV show

Nina Dobrev and Paul Wesley will reunite for a new Hulu drama called You Deserve to Know, Deadline reports. The former Vampire Diaries co-stars will lead the series adaptation of Aggie Blum Thompson’s 2025 novel. Alex Cooper’s Unwell, Aaron Kaplan’s Kapital Entertainment, and writer Brian Tanen are behind the project. The show landed at Hulu for development in a competitive situation.

Three suburban couples live as next-door neighbors and best friends in the story. A husband’s murder exposes a trail of secrets that tears their friendship apart. Dobrev and Wesley play Gwen and Scott, two neighbors standing on opposite sides of the investigation. The mystery pushes their characters toward an inevitable collision as dark truths surface.

Tanen wrote the pilot script based on Thompson’s novel. He previously developed Grand Hotel for ABC and served as co-showrunner on Hulu’s Love, Victor. Kaplan previously worked with both actors individually on separate projects. Dobrev starred in Kapital’s CBS comedy Fam, while Wesley led the thriller Tell Me a Story for CBS All Access.

Both actors also serve as executive producers alongside Tanen, Thompson, Cooper, Matt Kaplan, and Mina Lefevre. Kapital and 20th Television serve as the studios producing the series. The project marks Kapital’s second major Hulu sale in a month, following What Remains starring Kerry Washington.

Dobrev and Wesley originally starred together across six seasons of The CW’s The Vampire Diaries. They played Elena and Stefan in one of YA television’s most iconic love triangles of the 2010s. Dobrev currently has multiple projects in development, including the erotic thriller series Night Float at Fifth Season. Wesley recently wrapped the fifth and final season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for Paramount+, where he portrayed James T. Kirk.
