Former actress Tanushree Dutta became one of the most talked-about newcomers in the mid-2000s after the success of ' Aashiq Banaya Aapne '. The film brought her widespread recognition.

During that period, her personal life also attracted attention. Among the rumours that frequently surfaced were reports linking her to filmmaker Aditya Dutt . Neither Tanushree nor Aditya publicly confirmed those reports. However, years later, her former manager shared his recollections about that chapter of her career.

Former manager opens up

In an interview with Lehren earlier in 2025, former manager Bholaram Malviya spoke about working with Tanushree during the early stages of her film journey. He said he had invested significant effort in helping her secure projects and believed she had a bright future ahead. Recalling that period, he said, “Worst keh sakte, kya hai artist, artist hai. Maine uske liye bahut mehnat kiya tha aur mujhe lagta tha ki vo bahut achi ladki hai. Maine mehnat kiya uske liye, par maine jaise hi 2-3 picture sign bhi kara di – jaise Subhash Ghai ji, Harry Baweja aur ek south ki picture Balakrishna ke saath vo sign karayi thi,” (“Let’s say it was difficult, but she is an artist. I had worked very hard for her, and I felt she was a very good girl. I put in a lot of effort for her, and I had already managed to sign her for 2–3 films — like one with Subhash Ghai, one with Harry Baweja, and a South film with Balakrishna.”)

According to him, several opportunities had begun opening up for the actress as her popularity continued to grow.

Claims about Aditya Dutt and Goa trip

Bholaram also recalled an incident that he believes marked a turning point in their professional association. He claimed that during an outdoor shooting schedule, Tanushree informed him about a sudden travel plan.

Sharing his version of events, he said, “Suddenly kya hua, outdoor mein shooting karne gayi toh Aditya Dutt unka boyfriend tha, ek picture ki unhone saathme. Usne bola ‘Bhola mujhe suddenly 3 din ke liye Goa jana hai.’ Maine bola ‘Aap Goa mat jayiye, kisiki shooting hai, itna nuksaan..’ Fir maine producer se baat karke pyar se pataya aur usko Goa beja,” (“While shooting outdoors, Aditya Dutt was her boyfriend, and they were working on a film together. He suddenly said, ‘Bhola, I need to go to Goa for 3 days.’ I told him, ‘Please don’t go, there is a shooting schedule, it will cause a lot of loss…’ Then I spoke to the producer, convinced him with love, and sent her to Goa.”) The former manager suggested that the decision created scheduling difficulties and required adjustments from those involved in the production.

Event controversy and professional fallout

Bholaram further alleged that the travel plans eventually affected a major professional commitment. According to his account, Tanushree was scheduled to appear at a high-profile New Year's Eve event in Kolkata. He claimed that delays complicated the arrangements and created difficulties for organisers. He also stated that, after returning from a subsequent overseas trip, Tanushree appointed a different manager. According to Bholaram, that decision effectively ended their working relationship. He suggested that the move came despite an existing professional agreement between them.

Tanushree made her Hindi film debut with 'Aashiq Banaya Aapne' and soon became a familiar face among moviegoers. She later appeared in films such as 'Chocolate' and featured in the song "Jab Kabhi" from 36 China Town.

The actress also worked in Tamil cinema and expanded her career beyond Bollywood.
