There is good news for young people preparing for jobs in the higher education sector in Uttar Pradesh. The process of filling a large number of vacant Assistant Professor posts in the state's aided colleges has gained momentum. The Directorate of Higher Education has begun collecting details of vacancies from various colleges and uploading them to the selection commission's portal. The scope of recruitment has expanded after the number of posts turned out to be significantly higher than initial estimates. Simultaneously, preparations are underway for the appointment of principals and the creation of new teaching posts for 'Chief Minister Model Composite Schools'.
**Preparations to recruit for over 1,600 Assistant Professor posts**
More than 1,600 Assistant Professor posts have been found vacant across approximately 330 non-government aided colleges in the state. While the figure was initially reported to be around 1,150, it has risen following the recent submission of details regarding additional vacancies by college managements. The Directorate of Higher Education is verifying these posts and preparing to send the final list to the selection commission.
**Final information to be sent to the selection commission soon**
According to officials, the data on vacant posts is being cross-referenced with the ongoing recruitment advertisement process. The complete information will be forwarded to the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission within a day or two, paving the way for the recruitment process to move forward. Previously, an advertisement for 1,017 Assistant Professor posts was issued in 2022.
**Number of principal posts may also increase**
The likelihood of recruitment for vacant principal posts in aided colleges has also increased. Currently, a requisition for 111 posts has already been sent to the selection commission. As information regarding vacancies is still awaited from several institutions, the final count could rise further.
**New teaching posts in Model Composite Schools**
The state government is developing 'Chief Minister Model Composite Schools' into modern centers of education. These schools will offer education from pre-nursery to Class 12, and a proposal is being drafted to appoint two teachers for each section. 150 such schools are to be established in the state, featuring modern amenities such as smart classrooms, digital libraries, computer labs, and AI and robotics labs. English-medium instruction will also be a key feature of these schools.
