Barcelona winger Raphinha has issued an emotional message to fans following the injury that has put his World Cup hopes with Brazil in jeopardy. The forward was forced off the pitch during the Selecao’s win over Haiti, raising concerns that his tournament might come to an early end.

A dream paused by injury

The 29-year-old had been one of Brazil’s standout performers in their opening matches against Morocco and Haiti before his progress was abruptly halted. During the encounter with the Caribbean side, Raphinha had to be substituted before half-time after experiencing sharp pain in his right leg. Medical examinations later confirmed a muscle injury in his right thigh, leaving his participation in the rest of the competition uncertain.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced that the Barcelona winger will remain with the team to undergo an intensive rehabilitation programme. For Raphinha, who has already endured a season at Camp Nou disrupted by similar muscular problems, this latest setback is especially cruel. Nevertheless, he is determined not to let the challenge affect his morale.

A heartfelt vow to the national team

Addressing fans through a statement, Raphinha shared a nostalgic photo from his early days representing Brazil, using the image to reflect on his journey and reaffirm his commitment to the team. He wrote: “I chose this photo first because it reminds me of where it all began. The boy who dreamed of wearing the Brazilian national team jersey is still here. With the same dreams, the same gratitude, and the same desire to represent our country.”

The former Leeds United attacker further expressed his deep love for football, saying: “I love football, I love what I do, and I love wearing the Brazilian national team jersey. Those who know me know how much I push myself and how hard I work every day to improve. And that will never change. I will do everything in my power to recover and return as quickly as possible.”

Committed despite speculation

Despite his injury, Raphinha has no plans to leave the Brazil camp early. His focus remains on supporting his teammates and working towards recovery.

He added: “I want to be alongside my teammates, fight for our goals, and continue giving my all to honour this jersey and bring joy to Brazilian fans. I remain strong.”

Preparing for the Scotland test

Brazil will face Scotland in their final Group C fixture as they aim to secure the top spot in the group standings. A win or draw would guarantee their progression to the next round. Raphinha, however, will not be available for selection in this match. Reports indicate that Ancelotti has lined up alternatives, with 19-year-old Bournemouth winger Rayan expected to start on the right flank for Brazil on Wednesday night. Other potential options include Neymar, Luiz Henrique, Gabriel Martinelli, and Endrick, who may also feature depending on tactical needs.
