Madhya Pradesh Congress Religion and Temple Priest Cell has demanded a CBI investigation into the case of theft of offerings and financial irregularities in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya. The cell has warned that if strict action is not taken against the culprits within seven days and a positive decision is not taken on their demands, then a nationwide mass movement will be started with the Sant Samaj, Dharmacharyas and Ram devotees.
The cell organized a press conference at Bhopal Pradesh Congress Headquarters. Many officials including former minister Sajjan Singh Verma, Congress Media Department Chairman Mukesh Nayak, State President of Religion and Temple Priest Cell Sadhvi Richa Goswami, State Convenor Shivnarayan Sharma, Co-convenor Omkardas Vaishnav, Working President Sudhir Bharti were present here.
Congress demanded CBI investigation
Congress has demanded a CBI inquiry into the case of donation theft in Ram temple. Senior Congress leader Mukesh Nayak said that serious questions have been raised from time to time regarding the cameras installed in the Ram Temple complex being closed and the management of offerings. Raising the issue of gold and silver Ram Shilas donated by devotees during the construction of the temple, he said that transparent information regarding their condition has not been made public. He said that complete details of donations received and use of resources in religious institutions should be made available to the public.
Former minister Sajjan Singh Verma alleged that public sentiments have been used politically in the name of religion and faith. He said that an independent and impartial investigation is necessary into the allegations of corruption and financial irregularities to temple trusts and religious institutions.
Sadhvi Richa Goswami said that the incidents of theft of offerings in Ram temple are a serious matter to the faith of crores of devotees. He said that despite having state-of-the-art security system and a large number of cameras, the emergence of such incidents raises many questions. He demanded more transparency in the functioning of the Trust and increased participation of Sant Samaj.

In the press conference, Congress leaders raised many questions to donations received by the Trust, land purchase issue, alleged irregularities in Prasad distribution, rehabilitation of kar sevaks, compensation to the people affected by the Ayodhya corridor and darshan arrangements. He demanded that complete accounts of offerings and income and expenditure should be made public, regular audit reports should be made available and adequate representation should be given to Sant Samaj and Akharas in temple management. Executive President Sudhir Bharti said that if action is not taken within seven days, a massive public movement will be started, the responsibility of which will be on the Central Government, Uttar Pradesh Government and the concerned Trust.
