Desk: JSW MG Motor India is going to launch a new new energy vehicle on 16 July 2026. The company has not yet revealed its name and complete information. It is believed that this will be a Plug-in Hybrid SUV, which can be based on the Wuling Starlight 560 PHEV sold in China. MG had filed the design patent of this model in India in March 2026. This new SUV will be launched with a new name next month and its sales are expected to start around Diwali.

In China, the Wuling Starlight 560 SUV comes with petrol, plug-in hybrid and electric engine options. The plug-in hybrid variant has a 1.5 liter petrol engine with a 20.5 kilowatt-hour battery, which together generates 197 bhp power and 230 Nm torque. At the same time, the electric variant has a front-mounted electric motor with a 56.7 kilowatt-hour battery. Its power is 136 bhp and torque is 200 Nm.

The Starlight 560 PHEV offers an electric range of up to 100 km on a single charge, while the EV variant offers a driving range of up to 500 km. According to media reports, this new PHEV of MG can come with both PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) and electric powertrain options.

Similar to the Wuling Starlight 560, the new MG plug-in hybrid SUV is likely to measure 4,745 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and 1,755 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm. It can come in 5 and 7 seat options. Starlight 560 has a boot space of 763 litres.

Talking about the features, the new MG plug-in hybrid SUV can get a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8.8-inch digital driver display, leatherette upholstery, OTA update, 6-speaker audio system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, AC charging support, regenerative braking and many other features.

As for safety features, it is likely to include multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, tire pressure monitoring system, hill start assist, electronic stability control, Isofix child seat mount, rear parking sensor and keyless entry and push button start.
