Arsenal have triumphed in the race to sign Leicester City’s highly-rated youngster Jeremy Monga, reaching an agreement on a multi-million-pound transfer deal. The newly-crowned Premier League champions acted swiftly to fend off competition from several top European clubs, ensuring that the talented teenage winger will make north London his new home.
Under the leadership of Mikel Arteta, the Gunners have outpaced their domestic rivals by finalising a deal worth around £10 million for the 16-year-old prodigy. As reported by talkSPORT, Arsenal successfully concluded complicated discussions to avoid a potentially prolonged compensation tribunal. The England Under-19 international had drawn firm interest from eight different sides, including Manchester United, Leeds United, Newcastle United, Roma, Bayer Leverkusen, and RB Leipzig, before deciding to join the Emirates Stadium outfit.
The youngster made his senior debut under a former Manchester United legend who was then managing Leicester. After Monga’s memorable first appearance in April 2025, Ruud van Nistelrooy commented: “You could see glimpses of his great qualities; he’s a superb winger with pace. He’s a fantastic talent – a great lad, he earned these minutes and hopefully there’s more to come.”
Monga’s rise has been rapid, even amid Leicester’s struggles. He made history by debuting in the Premier League against Newcastle at just 15 years and 271 days old, becoming the second-youngest player in the league’s history after Ethan Nwaneri. He later became the youngest goalscorer in Championship history when he netted against Preston North End in August, recording one goal and two assists in 27 appearances in the second tier. Despite his contributions, Leicester’s relegation to League One hastened his inevitable summer move.
After experiencing four different managers during a turbulent spell in the Midlands, Monga will now look forward to a more stable environment under Arteta’s guidance at Arsenal. His arrival will boost squad depth as the north London club prepare for another demanding season, aiming to defend their Premier League title and push further in the Champions League.
