Manchester United have made it clear that they have no intention of letting Benjamin Sesko leave during the upcoming transfer window, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
Barcelona are said to be exploring several attacking reinforcements as they prepare for the eventual departure of their veteran striker, Robert Lewandowski.
The Polish forward is expected to depart the Catalan side after four seasons, prompting Barcelona to seek a long-term successor. Sesko has reportedly emerged as one of the names on their shortlist.
While the Spanish club have been strongly linked with Atletico Madrid’s forward Julian Alvarez, discussions between the two clubs have proven difficult and have yet to produce any breakthrough.
As a result, Barcelona are now evaluating other attacking options, with Sesko and Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy among the possible targets under consideration.
There have also been whispers suggesting that Atletico Madrid might join the pursuit of Sesko should they lose Alvarez, but Manchester United remain unconcerned by such talk.
United spent heavily on Sesko, paying £73 million to sign him from RB Leipzig last summer. The club is confident that this investment is already yielding positive returns.
Although Sesko initially needed time to adapt to the pace and physicality of English football, he ended the season in fine form, establishing himself as one of United’s key attacking threats.
The Slovenian striker netted 12 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions, with 11 of those strikes coming in the Premier League.
United’s coaching staff have been especially impressed with his progress behind the scenes and his growing influence within the squad.
Sesko has been working closely with manager Michael Carrick and first-team coach Travis Binnion, often taking part in additional one-on-one training sessions to improve various aspects of his play.
His dedication paid off on the pitch, as seven of his 12 goals came after Carrick assumed the role of interim manager in January, showcasing his steady improvement and growing confidence in front of goal.
