US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran is now ready to undergo the most stringent inspection of its nuclear facilities. According to Trump, only after this agreement, America has relaxed the restrictions on the Strait of Hormuz. But on the other hand, Iran has called these things completely wrong and has refused to accept any new international inspection.
What does America say?
President Donald Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that Iran has fully agreed to Major Weapons Inspections to ensure nuclear integrity. He clearly said that if Iran does not agree to this, there will be no further talks. America has linked this agreement to ending the siege of Iranian ports and ships.
Meanwhile, US Vice President JD Vance, who was leading the talks in Switzerland, called it a major achievement. He said that this step is the first step towards ending Iran’s nuclear weapons program forever and that UN inspectors can return there soon.
Iran denied the claims
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei rejected these claims of America outright. He clarified that Iran has not made any new promises regarding the investigation. Baghaei said that Iran’s relationship with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will continue according to the old agreements and the rules of the Parliament.
Iranian media and the chief negotiator also said there was no discussion in the Swiss talks about IAEA inspectors or an investigation in exchange for lifting sanctions. He also made it clear that Iran will continue to control the Strait of Hormuz and it will never be the same as before. Also, there are no plans for any new investigations at sensitive sites that were damaged in last year’s attack.
High-level meeting held in Switzerland
This entire controversy started after a conversation in Lake Lucerne, Switzerland. Representatives of America, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar were involved in this meeting. Earlier, on June 17, 2026, an agreement was reached between America and Iran, under which 60 days were fixed to discuss the nuclear program.
According to reports, the Iranian team left the meeting after a post by President Trump. After this the talks were completed through mediators. Trump also announced that the money released from the US treasury will be kept under US control and Iran will be able to use it only to buy medicines and food items from America.
