There was an uproar in Tarakeswar area of Hooghly district of West Bengal when former chairman of Tarakeswar Municipality and TMC leader Swapan Samant had to face opposition from the local people. The protesters expressed their displeasure by making various allegations against him. Local people demonstrated against Swapan Samant in Padmapukur area of Tarakeshwar. During the protest, he was garlanded with shoes and paraded around the area. The protesters also threw eggs at him and asked him to do sit-ups by holding his ears on the road. During this time, a huge crowd gathered at the spot and there was a lot of discussion in the area about the entire incident.
