Lucknow fire tragedy: What might have caused the deadly incident as 4 taken in custody?

Lucknow: In a tragic incident, at least 15 people lost their lives in the deadly fire that led to the death of 15 individuals, while several people were injured in the incident. Four people have been arrested in the case so far, all four are joint owners of the building.

As per the initial report of the incident, the fire may have started in the building’s AC duct. The smoke after the fire led to suffocation due to a lack of an exit route. As per UP Urban Development and Energy Minister A K Sharma, lapses behind the incident would be investigated.

The incident leads to serious concerns once again

The incident once again led to serious concerns regarding fire safety measures in coaching centres and commercial buildings across the country. Various questions have been raised on emergency exits, proper fire equipment, permissions to the building, and whether safety regulations had been followed. The latest incident has once again led to a call for proper inspections and strict enforcement of safety rules.

According to eyewitnesses, several people jumped out of the building after it caught fire. Some people also climbed down the wires to escape the blaze. The victims were also brought out from the terrace of an adjoining building, where rescue teams drilled two large openings to gain access to the fire.

As many as 19 fire tenders, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and other rescue personnel reached the spot after the fire was reported around 3 pm.

“A total of 22 people were brought to the Trauma Centre of King George’s Medical University (KGMU) following the incident. Of them, 15 were declared brought dead, while five injured persons were admitted for treatment and their condition was stable,” King George Medical University (KGMU) PRO Prof K K Singh said while speaking to PTI.

Responsibility will be fixed: Rajnath Singh

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who is also an MP from Lucknow, visited the site and said that the responsibility will be fixed on those found guilty in the incident. Speaking to reporters, he said that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath assured that the incident would be properly investigated.
