The building has also been in controversies

It has been learned that there has been a dispute in the past regarding the building in which the fire broke out. The total area of building number MS/102/D, located in Sector-D of Aliganj Scheme, is 1992 square feet and the residential map for this was approved on August 20, 2014. However, in the year 2016, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) had filed a case over alleged illegal construction in the building.

Instructions were given to take action regarding illegal construction

After hearing the case, an order to demolish the building was also issued on May 10, 2016. Later the building owners lodged an objection saying that they did not get a fair opportunity to be heard and the construction was as per the approved map. After this, the demolition order was canceled on July 5, 2016.

According to documents, this building was allotted through lottery in the year 1980. In the year 2005, its sale deed was made in the name of Vijay Kumar and Usha while in 2013 it was sold to Virendra Pratap Shukla and Surendra Pratap Shukla. After this, on August 7, 2014, LDA had transferred the name of the building to the new owners. Now after the fire, the administration is also investigating the approvals of the building, the actual condition of the construction, adherence to safety standards and irregularities.
