Manchester United and Liverpool have reportedly made moves to sign Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.
Both Manchester United and Liverpool are keen to bolster their midfield options during the summer transfer window, with the Red Devils planning to make several key additions to the squad.
Manchester United have already completed the signing of Ederson from Atalanta, and the club’s owners, INEOS, are hopeful of bringing in at least one or two more midfield reinforcements to support the Brazilian.
Meanwhile, Liverpool struggled in midfield last season, with several players failing to maintain their levels of performance. Among them was Alexis Mac Allister, who, despite being named in the Premier League Team of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign, experienced a dip in form.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Real Madrid are planning to adjust their squad to make room for Bernardo Silva and potentially Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez. To make these signings possible, Los Blancos ‘need to offload some players, and Camavinga is one of them’.
The report adds that both Manchester United and Liverpool ‘have expressed interest in him’, along with Paris Saint-Germain. Real Madrid have reportedly ‘valued him at €60 million and expect bidding to begin this summer’.
Real Madrid are said to be ‘in agreement with Jose Mourinho’ regarding the decision to move Camavinga on during this window. However, it is expected that completing the sale will not be straightforward.
The report continues: ‘Selling him will be difficult, not because of a lack of interest or offers, but because the player is unwilling to leave the team. Sources close to him suggest he has no intention of departing and remains confident that he can turn the situation around.’
Camavinga’s stance has reportedly remained consistent since May, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano previously stating that the Frenchman intends to fight for his place at Real Madrid.
Speaking on YouTube, Romano explained: “There have been many questions about Eduardo Camavinga and the rumours linking him with Manchester United and other clubs. There is no doubt that several teams admire the player and are interested in him.
“However, Manchester United have not initiated any official talks with Real Madrid and have not made any approach for Camavinga at this stage. From what I understand, United currently have different priorities.”
Romano added: “Camavinga himself wants to stay at Real Madrid. He wants to fight for his place and remain part of the project. He understands that this season has been challenging, particularly with injuries and some unfortunate moments, making it perhaps the toughest campaign of his career so far. Despite that, he doesn’t want to give up. He believes difficult seasons are part of football and wants to respond by improving and proving his worth again.”
“Camavinga is still very young and remains fully committed to succeeding at Real Madrid. The club are not pushing him out or losing faith in him. As always in the transfer market, everything depends on opportunities and potential offers. If a major proposal arrives this summer, Real Madrid would assess the situation, but the player’s current intention is clear – he wants to stay.”
