A day after they helped India to a historic men’s junior artistic team medal at the 2026 Asian Gymnastics Championships, Harschit Damodaran and Akshay Bajaj clinched a double podium for the country in men’s vault.
Harschit, who was the best performing Indian in the team event, took the gold medal with an average score of 13.649 to finish on top of the podium.
He performed a handspring front double twist and a Tsukahara 720, earning 13.866 and 13.433 points respectively.
Bajaj, meanwhile, performed Tsukahara 720 (13.500) and Yurchenko 720 (13.366) to bag the silver behind his countrymate with an average score of 13.433.
Earlier, both Damodaran and Bajaj were a part of the bronze medal winning Indian junior men’s artistic gymnastics team along with Nishad Narvane, SK Nabigh Ali, and Mohd Zaid Ansari.
They had clinched the bronze medal with a score of 224.493 behind China (241.458) and Japan (239.461).
