If you need to visit a bank branch this week to handle any urgent business, be sure to check the calendar before leaving home. We say this because private and public sector banks in various parts of the country will remain closed for four consecutive days this week. Despite the branch closures, online and digital banking services will continue to operate uninterrupted, 24/7, across the country.
You can transfer money to anyone or receive payments using platforms like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, or your bank's own mobile app and website. ATMs and cash recycler machines across the country will remain operational as usual, even on holidays.
During the week of June 22 to June 28, 2026, banks will remain closed for four consecutive days from June 25 to June 28. However, it is important to note that banks will not be closed across the entire country for all four days; some are regional holidays, meaning banks will remain closed only in the respective states.
**When will banks remain closed this week?**
**June 25 (Thursday):** Banks will remain closed in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, on the occasion of Muharram.
**June 26 (Friday):** Due to Muharram, banks will be closed in most major cities across the country. These include New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Kanpur, Bhopal, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Nagpur, Belapur, Jammu, Srinagar, Agartala, and Aizawl.
**June 27 (Fourth Saturday):** As it is the fourth Saturday of the month, operations at all private and public sector banks across the country will remain suspended.
**June 28 (Sunday):** Banks across the country will remain closed due to the weekly holiday.
Even after this week, banks will remain closed in select cities during the last two days of June.
**June 29 (Monday):** Banks in Himachal Pradesh will remain closed on the occasion of Sant Guru Kabir Jayanti. Banks in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, will remain closed on June 30 on the special occasion of Remna Ni.
Do banks remain closed on every Saturday?
According to RBI regulations, all scheduled and non-scheduled banks in the country remain closed on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month, whereas they remain fully operational on the first, third, and fifth Saturdays. This means that banks are not closed on every Saturday. However, banks observe a weekly holiday on all Sundays.
