I’m Devastated Teva Is Discontinuing These Hurricane Sandals—Shop What You Can Before They’re Sold Out

Sandals that stay secure “even on long days.”

I remember my first time wearing Chuck Taylor sneakers on vacation. My outfit was cute, but it didn’t take long before my ankles started sweating, my pinky toes felt pinched and my feet began to ache. Needless to say, I made a note to choose something more comfortable moving forward. Finding the right shoe took trial and error: I skidded through Taiwanese day trips in flip-flops and endured Florida heat in closed-toe sneakers. Eventually, I found the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 Sport sandals that let my feet spread and breathe.

In a devastating turn of events, Teva discontinued the sandal, but Amazon still has it in women’s and men’s styles while they last. Here’s why you’ll want to snag some for errand days and your next vacation.

These Teva sandals have been my go-to summer footwear for over three years now. The base of the sandal is very durable. It provides all-day support, thanks to its rubber-like insole and sturdy nylon shank, the portion between the inner and outer soles. I’ve worn the sandals through two multi-day trips to Disney World, beach trips, North Georgia mountain hikes and more, and I’ve always felt very supported. It also helps that the sole offers plenty of tread—I’ve neither slipped nor skidded my toes in these sandals.

Part of the reason I can feel so secure in this sandal is its three adjustment straps: two around the ankle and one before the toes. The straps are long, accommodating various foot shapes and sizes, meaning my wide feet get a much-needed reprieve from tight-fitting boots and sneakers. After adjusting the straps maybe once or twice in the entire time I’ve owned them, I only need to rehook the frontmost ankle strap anytime I want to wear the sandals. This makes them quick and convenient to secure on my feet before walking out the door for the day. And once they’re hooked, they don’t budge.

Shoppers share my sentiments about this comfortable sandal. One reviewer reflected on how they “never once felt unstable” while traversing “slick, moss-covered rocks and muddy creek crossings.” Another shopper is a long-time user like myself and chose to buy a second pair after five years of “summer walks, pool time and water activities.” And a third shopper praises the straps “that hold the foot securely without causing discomfort, even on long days.”

Unfortunately, the Teva Hurricane XLT 2 Sport sandals that have won me and over 9,200 other satisfied shoppers’ five-star ratings are going extinct. Now may be your only chance to enjoy your trail days, beach vacations, and destination trips without the horrible foot aches and slippery soles. Grab the sandals in women’s and men’s styles before they sell out for good.
