Ayushman Card Services in UP: Ayushman cardholders in Uttar Pradesh have received significant relief. Following CM Yogi's instructions, problems like approval, rejection, and card disabling will now be resolved at the district level, eliminating the need to travel to the capital. With CMOs and district teams granted special powers, beneficiaries will receive immediate relief.
The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh is continuously taking important steps to make health services more accessible, transparent, and effective. In this regard, a major relief measure has been implemented for beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY). Beneficiaries will no longer have to visit the State Health Agency (SACHIS) office in Lucknow to resolve various issues related to their Ayushman card. Their problems can now be resolved at the district level.
Technical ID provided to all CMOs
Archana Verma, CEO of SACHIS (State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services), stated that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's effort is to ensure that the true benefits of the Ayushman Bharat scheme reach eligible individuals, ensuring they receive timely services without unnecessary hassle. This is why the state is focusing on digitizing health services and simplifying administrative processes.
In response, all Chief Medical Officers (CMOs), nodal Ayushman officers, and district implementation unit teams across the state have been provided with a unique technical ID. This will enable district-level officials to quickly resolve technical issues, such as Ayushman card approval, rejection, and card disabling, at the local level. This system will save beneficiaries both time and money, and services will be available more quickly than before.

UP's claim settlement and payment rates are lower than the national average.
At the same time, Sachies has launched several important initiatives to ensure quality treatment and timely payments to hospitals. The agency's objective is to provide patients with better medical facilities and, simultaneously, to incentivize hospitals with timely payments. Continuous improvements are being made to make the claims settlement and payment process more simple, transparent, and speedy.
Currently, pending payments in the state have been largely controlled, with approximately ₹500 crore (approximately $5 billion) outstanding. The average turnaround time for claims settlement and payments in Uttar Pradesh is approximately 57 days, compared to the national average of 73 days. This achievement reflects the effective administrative system and technological improvements implemented in the state.
Action taken against 200 hospitals for irregularities
The CEO of SACHIS stated that claims are often rejected because hospitals fail to submit the required documentation on time or in full. This creates difficulties for hospitals in receiving payments. To address this problem, the agency is conducting online training programs in various phases. These training programs are providing hospitals with detailed information on the correct claim submission process, the necessary documentation, and treatment and claim management in accordance with standard treatment guidelines.
These training programs will enable hospitals to submit accurate and complete claims the first time. This will reduce claim rejections and make the payment process more expeditious and transparent. This will benefit both patients and hospitals. Strict monitoring is also underway to ensure that only quality and beneficiary-friendly hospitals are maintained. In the current financial year, approximately 200 hospitals have been de-empanelled from the scheme due to non-compliance with quality standards and various irregularities. This action was taken to maintain the quality of healthcare services.

Field audit of 300 hospitals in UP is being conducted.
Nearly 300 hospitals in Uttar Pradesh have been identified as being suspected of receiving improper payments through upcoding or dubious claims. Notices are being issued to such hospitals, and detailed field audits are being conducted. If irregularities are confirmed in the investigation, strict action will be taken against the hospitals involved.
This will further strengthen the transparency and credibility of the scheme. Sachis's clear goal is to ensure that only those hospitals that provide quality treatment to beneficiaries in accordance with the prescribed standards remain active under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme. Such hospitals will be encouraged, and their claims and payment processing will be made more systematic and timely.
