New Delhi: After a spectacular completion of the home ODI series against Afghanistan, the Indian cricket team’s entire focus is now on the big tours of Ireland and England. The Indian team is soon going to play a very important three-match ODI series against England on its soil. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has now officially announced the 15-member main squad of Team India for this high-profile series. Some surprising decisions have been taken in this team, which no one expected. The biggest good news is that run-machine Virat Kohli and yorker king Jasprit Bumrah have finally returned to the ODI team.
Bumrah returns after a long time, Siraj leaves the field clean
The Indian team is going to start its England tour with a bang from July 1. Just before the ODI series between the two countries, a 5-match T20 series will be played, for which the selectors had already announced the squad of Team India. Now BCCI has also released the ODI team list. Virat Kohli and all-rounder Axar Patel have returned to the team after a series rest. At the same time, the biggest attraction is the selection of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah has been included in the Indian ODI team for the first time after the 2023 ODI World Cup, due to which the Indian fast bowling attack looks very lethal.
Big shock to Yashasvi Jaiswal who scored a century
Some very surprising decisions have also been seen in this new team. The most surprising thing is that young opening batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a brilliant century in the last ODI against Afghanistan, has not got a place in the ODI team. He has been dropped from this series. Apart from this, Prince Yadav and Harsh Dubey, who performed well in domestic cricket, also had to find their way out of the team.
On the other hand, Gurnoor Brar and fast bowler Prasidh Krishna, who impressed with their pace in the domestic circuit and IPL, have got a big reward for their excellent performance and both have been included in the team. However, there is bad news for the fans of Mohammad Siraj because he has been completely ignored for this important series. The captaincy of the team will once again be in the hands of young Shubman Gill, while Shreyas Iyer has been made the vice-captain. Two strong wicketkeepers in the form of KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan are part of the team.
