Spotify is rolling out a new feature called Track Reactions that adds emoji-based responses to collaborative playlists. The update allows contributors to react to individual songs using a selection of emoji, making shared playlists more interactive. Reactions appear alongside tracks and can be viewed by other collaborators within the same playlist. The feature also introduces notifications for certain interactions and gives playlist owners control over whether reactions remain enabled. Spotify said the rollout will take place gradually in selected markets over the coming weeks.
Six emoji options for Track Reactions
According to a new community post, Spotify’s new Track Reactions feature allows collaborators to react to songs in shared playlists using six emoji options. Users can choose from a heart, thumbs up, laughing face, headphones, fireand pleading face emoji. These reactions let friends express their feelings about specific songs without needing to leave comments or messages.
How Track Reactions work
Track Reactions appear alongside tracks in collaborative playlists, making it easy to see what others think about each song. When you add a reaction to a track, it becomes visible to all other collaborators in the same playlist. The feature also introduces notifications for certain interactionsso you can stay updated when someone reacts to songs you’ve added.
Playlist owner control
The feature gives playlist owners control over whether reactions remain enabled. This means the person who created the collaborative playlist can turn Track Reactions on or off based on their preference. If reactions are disabled, collaborators won’t be able to add emoji responses to songs.
Gradual rollout timeline
Spotify said the rollout will take place gradually in selected markets over the coming weeks. This means the feature won’t be available to all users immediately, but will slowly expand to more regions. Users in markets where Track Reactions are available will be able to start using the emoji responses in their collaborative playlists right away.
Why Track Reactions matter
The feature makes shared playlists more interactive and fun, turning playlist collaboration into a more social experience. Instead of just adding songs, friends can now express their reactions to each track, creating a more engaging way to share music together. This is especially useful for group playlists like party mixes, workout playlists, or travel song collections where multiple people contribute.
