In Corralejo, a lively Leeds United supporters’ group turns The York bar into a sea of white, blue, and yellow on matchdays, attracting both holidaymakers and local fans.

The Leeds United Supporters’ Club Fuerteventura was founded and is managed by John Holliday, a former Elland Road season-ticket holder who relocated to the island 15 years ago. As reported by yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Holliday started the branch to celebrate the strong Leeds following on the island and to bring fans together to watch matches in a shared space.

Leeds United rank among the most prominently supported football teams in Corralejo, alongside Newcastle United. The York bar, located on Calle Juan de Austria, has seating for about 25 people but frequently accommodates more than 40 fans, including visitors from different parts of Fuerteventura. A record turnout of 65 supporters was seen during last season’s FA Cup clash against Harrogate Town.

Regular patrons often exchange stories and share their favourite seating spots from Elland Road. When Leeds played Tottenham Hotspur, 15 fantasy-football enthusiasts visiting from England joined the crowd, taking the total attendance to 64. The bar reached its loudest when Leeds triumphed over Manchester United, with jubilant chants and celebrations filling the night.

As Leeds prepare for their pre-season tour in the United States, some logistical challenges are expected due to time zone differences. Fuerteventura shares the same time as the UK, which is five hours ahead of the US east coast. Matches such as Wrexham in Tampa and Sunderland in New Jersey will kick off at 12.30am UK time, while the fixture against Liverpool in Chicago will start at 8pm on Saturday, August 2.

Following the US tour, Leeds are expected to play RB Leipzig at Elland Road over the weekend of August 8–9, before taking on Manchester United in Dublin the following Wednesday. The York bar intends to screen all of Leeds’s friendly matches, though the timing of US fixtures might pose a challenge for live viewings. A Leeds flag is permanently displayed at the venue, which also maintains a Facebook page to keep fans informed and connected.
