Indian Railway Rules | There is an important news for passengers traveling by Indian Railways. Indian Railways has decided to tighten the rules for the safety of passengers and to maintain discipline in the railway premises. Following the central government’s new legal reforms, various railway malpractices will now be dealt with more severely, with fines of up to Rs 10,000 in some cases. Also, in serious cases there may be a court appearance. According to railway officials, the implementation of the revised rules is likely to start from July 1.
Traveling without a ticket will be expensive
The penalty amount has now been increased for those who travel by train without taking a ticket. Henceforth, anyone caught traveling without a ticket will have to pay a minimum fine of Rs 500 and the associated fare. Refusal to pay fines may lead to court action.
Action if traveling on someone else’s ticket
Strict action will also be taken against those traveling using tickets in other person’s name. Such passengers will have their tickets confiscated and additional fares and fines will be collected from them. Indian Railway Rules
Begging, hawkers banned in railway area
Under the new rules, unauthorized hawkers and beggars in railway stations and trains will be fined up to Rs 2,000. There is also a provision for imprisonment of up to one year for repeat offenders.
Penalty for making a mess, abuse
A fine of up to Rs 1,000 will be levied for causing disturbance in a train or at a station, using obscene or abusive language, disturbing other passengers or obstructing railway operations. Besides, persons misbehaving under the influence of liquor or drugs will be ejected from the train or station.
Heavy fine for unauthorized entry into women’s compartment
Male passengers illegally traveling in a compartment reserved for women can be fined up to Rs 2,500. Also, the person concerned will be immediately disembarked from the coach. Indian Railway Rules
A minimum fine of Rs 10,000 can be levied if prohibited or dangerous goods are found on railway premises. Along with this, strict legal action will also be taken against the concerned person.
