Strait of Hormuz. :Iran’s Joint Military Command said on Saturday that the Strait of Hormuz has been closed again. The reasons behind this were the Israeli attacks in Lebanon and America’s “bad intentions” and “clear violations” by not fulfilling its promises to end the war. The statement on state television also warned that “further measures are planned if the aggression continues.”
America accused of not following the agreement
However, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Bagahei indicated that unless Iran believes the US is abiding by the agreement, nothing is likely to happen. “Therefore, the purpose of this visit is to demand the other side to fulfill its responsibilities,” he said. He further said that negotiations for a final agreement will begin only when key promises, including ending the fighting in Lebanon, are met. “If any part of these agreements or promises is not implemented, the entire agreement will be in jeopardy,” Bagahei said.
16 people died in Lebanon
Let us tell you that earlier this week, an interim agreement was signed between America and Iran. After this, movement of ships was started through the Strait of Hormuz. Just hours after the news of the ceasefire agreement came, Israel attacked southern Lebanon on Saturday. At least 16 people died in these attacks, including two children. The ongoing fighting is threatening the interim agreement between the US and Iran to end the war in the Middle East.
Israel accused Hezbollah
An Israeli army official said that Hezbollah fired more than 50 projectiles at Israeli forces in southern Lebanon overnight, after which the army began targeting the militant group there. As per rules, the officer did not reveal his identity. The army said it struck several Hezbollah targets and militants in southern Lebanon, including rocket launching sites and Hezbollah command centers. On Friday, Israel’s ambassador to Washington, Yechiel Leiter, said on X that Israel was “fully committed to an immediate ceasefire” if Hezbollah abides by the agreement and ceases attacks.
Hezbollah held Israel responsible
On Saturday, Hezbollah said it had promised to abide by the ceasefire, but blamed Israel for violating it several times on Friday night. A statement from the group’s military wing said it would observe the ceasefire but also respond to attacks by Israeli troops.
