American officials have shared the complete details of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with Iran. The purpose of this agreement is to end the ongoing war between the two countries. According to the agreement, Iran will have to reduce its enriched uranium reserves. A senior US administration official said that both sides have agreed to an arrangement for the management of Iran’s nuclear material, under which uranium will be down-blended under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

There was a demand for a long time to make this document named “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran” public. After this, American officials released the full text of the agreement. This 14-point agreement includes many important provisions like ending the war, removing sanctions, monitoring the nuclear program and economic cooperation.

14 big things about MOU

1. Agreement to end the war

The US, Iran and their allies will immediately and permanently halt military action on all fronts. Both countries will not start war or military action against each other in future. Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity will be respected.

2. Respect each other’s sovereignty

America and Iran will respect each other’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Both countries will not interfere in each other’s internal affairs.

3. Target of final agreement in 60 days

Both countries will negotiate the final agreement within a maximum of 60 days. This period can be extended with mutual consent.

4. American naval blockade will be lifted

America will start the process of lifting the naval blockade on Iran immediately after the signing of the agreement. The blockade will be completely ended within 30 days. Within 30 days of the final agreement, US forces will withdraw from areas around Iran.

5. Iran will provide safe passage to ships

Iran will ensure safe movement of commercial ships without any fees for 60 days. Ship traffic will resume between the Persian Gulf and the Sea of ​​Oman. The future governance of Hormuz will be negotiated with Oman and other Gulf countries.

6. $300 billion plan to rebuild Iran

America and its allies will plan at least $300 billion for Iran’s reconstruction and economic development. Its outline will be decided under the final agreement.

7. Process of removing sanctions on Iran

The US will work towards ending the UN, IAEA and all its own unilateral sanctions. The program to lift the ban will be part of the final agreement.

8. Iran will not make nuclear weapons

Iran reiterated that it will not develop nuclear weapons. The stockpile of enriched uranium will be reduced under IAEA supervision. Both countries will further discuss Iran’s nuclear needs and uranium enrichment.

9. Status quo remains intact till final agreement

Iran will not make any major changes in its existing nuclear program. America will not impose any new sanctions and will not send additional troops to the region.

10. Iranian oil export approved

America will issue waiver for the export of Iran’s crude oil, petroleum products and their services. Banking, insurance and transport services will also be allowed.

11. Iran’s frozen assets will be released

The US will make Iran’s frozen or restricted financial assets available for use. The process of using these assets will be decided with the consent of both the countries.

12. Monitoring mechanism will be created

An executive mechanism will be established to enforce and monitor the agreement.

13. Negotiations will begin on the final agreement

After the implementation of the major provisions of the MOU, both the countries will start special negotiations on the remaining points of the final agreement.

14. Approval of the United Nations Security Council

The final agreement will be approved through a binding resolution of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).
