Neeraj Chopra Qualifies for CWC 2026
Neeraj Chopra was not participating in any competition since last year due to back injury. After recovering from this injury, he was training in Switzerland from May 25. Neeraj Chopra made a last minute decision to participate in the Doha Diamond League. Neeraj Chopra got off to a poor start in this tournament, fouling in his first attempt. He then made his first valid record with a throw of 82.77 meters in the second round. His best performance came in the third round, when he threw 85.69m, which temporarily moved him to third place. He cleared 83.45m in the fourth round, but fouled again in the fifth round as he tried to return to the top three. This ended his journey in the Diamond League.
Last year, Neeraj himself recorded the only throw of more than 90 meters in his career at the same ground. However, this time the situation was different and even the most experienced players had to struggle to find their rhythm. In the fourth round of the competition, Sri Lankan player, Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage took first place with a brilliant throw of 88.68m.
Peters finished second
In the event, reigning World Championship silver medalist Anderson Peters (86.38m) finished second behind Pathiraga of Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, World Championship bronze medalist Curtis Thompson finished third with a throw of 85.99 metres. The opening rounds of the competition saw ups and downs, with Thompson leading the way in the first round and Anderson Peters in the second and third rounds, but in the fourth round Pathirage took the lead by the longest distance.
