Manchester United have learned when they will meet their Premier League opponents in the upcoming season.

The Red Devils will begin their 2026/2027 campaign with an away trip to newly promoted Hull City on 22 August.

They will then host another promoted side, Ipswich Town, at Old Trafford on 29 August to kickstart their home fixtures.

Following those two matches, United’s next three games will be against Everton, Manchester City, and Fulham.

The final stretch of the season will see United host Leeds United and then travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before concluding their league campaign at home against Fulham.

According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United specifically requested the Premier League to schedule their opening fixture away from Old Trafford.

The newspaper stated, “Manchester United requested to play their first Premier League fixture next season away from Old Trafford due to extensive work on the Old Trafford pitch.”

This marks the first time since 2016 — when Jose Mourinho took charge of his first league match against Bournemouth — that United will begin a season away from home.

Last season, the club opened their 2025/2026 campaign at Old Trafford against eventual champions Arsenal.

The report further mentioned, “Ground staff have dug up the Old Trafford pitch for the first time since 2012 and will also install new safety measures.”

With around ten weeks remaining until the home opener against Ipswich Town on 29 August, United’s ground team will aim to have the pitch fully prepared and in top condition.

In the past, the club has faced criticism for the raised design of the Old Trafford surface and the brickwork in front of the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand.

It is believed that Benjamin Sesko’s recent injury against Liverpool early last month may have been worsened when he fell off the steeper edge of the pitch.
