Indian boxer Prachi stunned Paris Olympics bronze medalist Shih Yi Wu of Chinese Taipei with a 4-1 upset victory to reach the semi-finals with a brilliant performance in the quarter-finals of the 57 kg weight category here on Friday. With this, India has assured itself of six medals in the second phase of the World Boxing Cup 2026.

Apart from Prachi, Meenakshi, the current world number one boxer in 48 kg, decided to try her luck in the 51 kg Olympic category and registered an important victory by defeating the current world champion (2025) and world number three boxer Alua Balkibekova of Kazakhstan 5-0.

On the other hand, in the men’s category, Deepak (70 kg) displayed a composed performance and defeated Nabi Isgandarov of Azerbaijan by a unanimous decision of 5-0. Nikhil (55kg) also entered the semi-finals with an impressive 5-0 win over Azerbaijan’s Amin Mammadzada.
In this way, India continued its excellent performance on the international stage by securing six medals in the tournament. Earlier in the day, Sneh (65kg) lost 0-5 to Poland’s Kinga Krowka and was out of the competition.
