New Delhi: French tennis player Corentin Moutet has lost almost his entire Queen’s prize money as he has been fined USD 40,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct. The 27-year-old received the maximum punishment for swearing seven times in a post-match interview at Queen’s Club this week.
The World No. 36 swore in repeatedly after a first-round triumph over countryman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard at the ATP 500 grass-court event in London, which serves as a tune-up before Wimbledon.
Though he lost to Spain’s Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the last 16 on Thursday. When he used the expletive for the first time, he was asked by the interviewer not to use bad language, and he apologised for Moutet’s language, but he swore again three times, after which the interview was cut short.

“The player has received a fine of $40,000 for unsportsmanlike conduct,” the ATP said in a statement.
Shortly after the interview, he wrote on his Instagram that he was “just joking” and hoped people “didn’t get offended”. “Moutet has confirmed that he will appeal the fine in accordance with ATP rules.” Wimbledon starts on June 29.
History of disciplinary issues follows Corentin MoutetThis is not the first time he has been booked for using foul language. Last year, he had a heated verbal clash with Alexander Bublik after a Phoenix Challenger event and the chair umpire had to climb down and separate them.
In 2022 he was defaulted from the Adelaide International for swearing at the umpire after he lost the second set against Serbia’s Laslo Djere. Not just that, the FFT even dropped him last November, which means he lost his financial aid because of a lack of “exemplary behaviour”.
