DON'T MISS A MOMENT OF THE WORLD CUP
Ansu Fati has taken an unexpected turn in his career. The former Barcelona winger, now playing for Monaco, has astonished both football and music fans by unveiling his first official single titled 'Sea como sea'. The 23-year-old, once hailed as a prodigy at Barcelona’s La Masia academy, has signed a worldwide distribution agreement with Music Brokers, a subsidiary of Sony Music. This makes him the first La Masia graduate to release an independent commercial track.
Fati’s new musical journey
The dynamic forward has introduced a two-minute and fifteen-second track that fuses Afrobeats, reggaeton, and Amapiano influences. This creative project is deeply personal, originating during his long recovery from a severe knee injury sustained in 2020. Throughout the recent domestic campaign, Fati worked quietly in professional recording studios in Nice, collaborating with acclaimed producer Gambinoalaprod and former France international midfielder Paul Pogba.
Label praises his natural artistic evolution
The management team overseeing the global launch has firmly dismissed suggestions that the project is simply a publicity stunt. Executives have highlighted that Fati has dedicated several years to refining his vocal technique and songwriting craft through private sessions.
Federico Scialabba, CEO of Music Brokers, stressed that Fati should not be viewed as just another "footballer who sings". Instead, he described him as an artist who has developed his musical talent in a natural and gradual way.
Footballers embracing creativity
Fati’s bold move mirrors a growing pattern among elite footballers turning to music as a means of self-expression. Former Barcelona goalkeeper Jose Pinto successfully transitioned into music production, while players such as Memphis Depay and Neymar have each earned millions of digital streams. The lyrics of Fati’s song revolve around themes of romantic determination and the relentless pursuit of affection, echoing the perseverance and dedication that define his sporting career.
Permanent transfer on the horizon
Despite this exciting artistic venture, Fati will soon redirect his focus to football after a strong season in France. Having netted 11 goals in 25 Ligue 1 matches, Monaco have agreed to pay Barcelona €11 million to secure his permanent transfer. Finalising this key move while gearing up for pre-season training will test Fati’s ability to manage his dual professional ambitions in sport and music.
