Manchester United reportedly believe they have a ‘real opportunity’ to secure the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Red Devils have already finalised a deal to bring Ederson from Atalanta as part of their ongoing efforts to strengthen the midfield, with plans to add two or three new players in that position.

Casemiro is expected to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of this month, while Manuel Ugarte could also be sold, with AC Milan said to be showing keen interest in the Uruguayan.

West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes has emerged as a strong candidate among several midfielders linked with Manchester United this summer.

However, their top target remains Elliot Anderson, though that pursuit appears increasingly difficult as rivals Manchester City have taken the lead in the chase for the Nottingham Forest and England star.

Nevertheless, a move that could now gain momentum is Manchester United’s pursuit of Real Madrid’s Aurelien Tchouameni. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently described the Frenchman as United’s “dream target”.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano said: “At the moment, I can tell you, for example, on Aurelien Tchouameni, there is interest from Manchester United, that’s for sure.

“He’s eventually a dream target for Manchester United, but that doesn’t mean that Tchouameni is going to Man Utd because he had a fight with Valverde.”

Romano further explained: “For sure, the situation of Aurelien Tchouameni is making Manchester United fans ask, but now Man Utd can go and sign the player.

“Man Utd love Aurelien Tchouameni. That’s for sure.

“They believe he’s one of the best midfielders in the world.

“So, for sure, they would love to make it happen, but, at the moment, guys, I am still told that Real Madrid consider Tchouameni as an important player for present and future.”

According to TEAMtalk, Tchouameni’s potential departure from Real Madrid this summer is now considered ‘a strong possibility’, which has alerted Premier League giants Manchester United and Liverpool.

The report states: ‘Sources indicate Liverpool and Manchester United both believe there is a genuine chance the 26-year-old could leave Madrid this summer, with the pair regarded as his most likely destinations should he decide to move to England.’

TEAMtalk further reveals that Manchester United ‘have been fully briefed on the shifting situation in Madrid and are prepared to act swiftly should the opportunity arise’.

It is also understood that Manchester United are ‘equally keen’ on Tchouameni as Liverpool, with insiders suggesting that United ‘view him as a player capable of transforming the balance and quality of their midfield unit.’
