Bharatiya Janata Party changed its state president before the upcoming assembly elections in Punjab and has given a chance to Jatt Sikh face Kewal Singh Dhillon in place of a Hindu. The appointment of Kewal Singh Dhillon is being seen as part of BJP’s expansion strategy in Punjab. The new state president is now openly trying to show his Sikh friendliness. With his appointment, BJP has put forward the agenda of bringing ‘Sher-e-Punjab’ rule.

Maharaja Ranjit Singh is called Sher-e-Punjab. His name is included among the most powerful Sikh rulers of Punjab. He used to spend his summers in Company Bagh (Ram Bagh) located in Amritsar, Punjab. The new state president of BJP reached the same place during his visit to Amritsar and made a move for Khalsa Raj in Punjab. On Thursday, Kewal Singh Dhillon visited Harmandir Sahib as well as various religious places in Amritsar and after that reached Maharaja Ranjit Singh Panorama in Company Bagh. During this, Rajya Sabha MP Tarun Chugh was also with him. Both the leaders offered flowers on the picture of the Maharaja and raised slogans of long live Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In the program that lasted for 40 minutes, both the leaders kept claiming to give rule like the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh in Punjab. Both the leaders said that if BJP government is formed in Punjab, drug addiction, extortion and gangsterism will be completely eliminated.
