Delhi Government Jobs (Reservation for Ex-Agniveers): There is significant news for ex-Agniveers who have demonstrated bravery and discipline while guarding the nation's borders for four years. The Delhi government has taken a historic step to integrate ex-Agniveers into civil services and employment. A 20% job reservation will now be provided to ex-Agniveers in direct recruitment for select key departments of the Delhi government. This reservation will primarily apply to Group C posts.

Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Taranjit Singh Sandhu has geared up to implement this proposal. Following a high-level meeting, he issued strict directives to all relevant Delhi government departments to make the necessary amendments to recruitment rules by June 30. The government believes that the experience of these ex-Agniveers—honed through rigorous military training, physical fitness, and discipline—will benefit Delhi's security and the quality of its public services.

**Benefits of 20% reservation available in these 4 Delhi government departments**
The Delhi government's new reservation policy focuses on specific frontline departments where physical efficiency and discipline are paramount. Under the 20% quota, ex-Agniveers will have the opportunity for direct recruitment to the following posts:

**Delhi Police:** Reservation for the post of Police Constable.
**Delhi Fire Service:** Benefit of this quota in the recruitment of Firemen.

**Prisons Department:** Direct recruitment for the post of Jail Warder.
**Department of Environment, Forests and Wildlife:** Deployment as Forest Guards and Wildlife Guards.

**LG Taranjit Singh Sandhu sets June 30 deadline**
Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu chaired a crucial high-level meeting on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary of Delhi, the Delhi Police Commissioner, and several senior officials. A roadmap for the scheme was finalized during the meeting. The Lieutenant Governor (LG) has unequivocally directed all departments to complete all procedural and administrative formalities regarding changes to recruitment rules by June 30, ensuring there are no delays in the hiring process.

Why was this decision taken? Leveraging the skills of Agniveers
It has been the Central Government's policy to provide excellent employment opportunities within the country to these youths following their four-year tenure as Agniveers. The Delhi Government's move is part of this initiative. The LG stated that the military training, physical fitness, discipline, and operational experience possessed by former Agniveers would significantly strengthen Delhi's frontline public institutions. The induction of these disciplined personnel into departments such as public safety, emergency response, and environmental protection is expected to enhance the quality and efficiency of operations.

The journey began with discussions regarding the Delhi Fire Service
According to media reports, the initiative to induct former Agniveers into Delhi's government services evolved from discussions held last month concerning their recruitment into the Delhi Fire Service. This has now been formalized into a comprehensive policy, which is expected to directly benefit a large number of former Agniveers in the near future. After serving the nation in the armed forces for four years, these young men will now be able to contribute to the safety and service of the people of Delhi.
