NEET Re-Exam Dress Code 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released an advisory for candidates appearing in the NEET UG 2026 re-exam. The exam will be held on June 21 at various centers across the country. To ensure the exam is conducted securely, the agency has issued guidelines concerning the dress code, biometric verification, and items permitted inside the exam center. Notably, the NEET UG 2026 re-exam will take place from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM. However, for PwD and PwBD candidates eligible for extra time, the exam will continue until 6:20 PM.

What can candidates carry into the exam center?

In view of the rainy season, certain relaxations have been granted to candidates. They are permitted to carry a transparent water bottle into the exam center. Additionally, permission has been granted to keep the admit card in a transparent plastic pouch to protect it. The NTA has advised candidates to bring only those items that are essential for the exam.

What are the rules regarding the dress code?

The NTA has advised candidates to wear light clothing to the exam center for the re-exam; however, if necessary, candidates may wear full-sleeved or woolen garments. In such cases, they must arrive at the exam center early to facilitate a smooth security check. Regarding footwear, wearing slippers or low-heeled sandals is recommended. Candidates wearing high-heeled shoes may face more rigorous security checks. The agency has also issued guidelines regarding items and attire associated with religious beliefs. Candidates will be permitted to enter the exam center wearing items such as a kalva (sacred thread), turban, hijab, religious symbols, or other articles of faith. However, such candidates must arrive at the exam center earlier than others to ensure proper screening. The NTA stated that the security process might take extra time; therefore, reporting early is essential.

Strict Prohibition on Certain Items at the Exam Center

Carrying any type of electronic device inside the exam center is not permitted. Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, and other electronic gadgets are strictly banned. Additionally, large belts, buckles, metallic objects, heavy jewelry, and other metal accessories are not allowed inside the examination hall.

Mandatory Biometric Verification

All candidates appearing for the Re-NEET exam will undergo biometric verification before entering the exam center. This process will include procedures such as fingerprint or face scanning. If biometric verification cannot be completed due to technical issues, internet connectivity problems, server glitches, or data-related reasons, candidates will not be barred from taking the exam. In such cases, they will be required to fill out a declaration form provided at the exam center, after which they will be permitted to sit for the exam. The NTA has clarified that the biometric process will not cause inconvenience to any candidate, and if necessary, the process can be completed either before the exam begins or after it concludes.
