Liverpool are intensifying their search for a long-term successor to Mohamed Salah, with reports suggesting that the club has had a €100 million bid for Yan Diomande rejected.

According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the Reds made a nine-figure offer for the RB Leipzig forward, who has been outstanding in the Bundesliga this season and also caught attention with his performance for Ivory Coast in their World Cup opener against Ecuador.

Diomande has reportedly been identified as a key target as Liverpool aim to strengthen their attacking options under new manager Andoni Iraola, who recently took charge at Anfield.

The Spanish coach replaced Arne Slot following the Dutchman’s dismissal and has already overseen his first signing of the new era, with Victor Munoz completing his move to Liverpool on Thursday.

The Merseyside club paid £34.5 million to secure the Osasuna winger, beating Newcastle United to the Spanish international’s signature. However, Liverpool’s recruitment drive on the flanks appears far from over.

Journalist David Ornstein reported that Liverpool informed RB Leipzig of their willingness to pay a total package worth €100 million for Diomande. Romano further claimed that the Bundesliga side turned down the Premier League club’s approach for the 19-year-old forward.

Reports indicate that RB Leipzig are demanding a higher fee, with figures around €120 million being mentioned as a possible benchmark for negotiations.

The German club are hopeful that Paris Saint-Germain and other European heavyweights will enter the race for Diomande, potentially sparking a bidding war. Meanwhile, The Athletic has reported that Liverpool are also assessing alternative attacking targets in case prising Diomande away from Red Bull Arena proves too difficult.
