In view of the rapidly rising cases of cybercrime and online fraud in the country, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah reviewed the functioning of the National Cybercrime Helpline (1930). During the review meeting, he directed officials to strengthen the helpline and its associated systems with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and multilingual capabilities, making it easier for ordinary citizens to lodge complaints.

**Emphasis on AI and Multilingual Capabilities**
Amit Shah noted that the number of cybercrime cases is steadily increasing. Consequently, the use of modern technology is essential to make the grievance redressal process more effective and swift. He instructed officials to develop AI-based solutions and provide assistance in various Indian languages.

**Directives for Better Coordination with States**
The Home Minister asked agencies to collaborate with states and ensure that every complaint received on the helpline is pursued to its logical conclusion. He also emphasized the need to resolve issues and grievances related to the freezing of bank accounts.

**What is the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal?**
The National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) was launched on August 30, 2019, under the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to strengthen the reporting of and response to cybercrimes across the country.

Initially, the portal operated within a limited scope; at that time, complaints could only be registered regarding child pornography and objectionable content related to rape or gang rape. Later, the portal was expanded and developed into a national platform for registering complaints regarding all types of cybercrimes. The Union Home Minister dedicated this portal to the nation on January 20, 2020.

**Special System to Tackle Financial Cyber Fraud**
In light of the rising cases of digital financial fraud, the government has also established a shared and integrated mechanism. In this system, law enforcement agencies, banks, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), financial institutions, payment wallet companies, and the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) collaborate to ensure swift action in cases of cyber fraud.

**Register a complaint immediately on 1930**
The "Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System" has been developed to handle complaints regarding financial cyber fraud. Through this system, complaints concerning fraud involving digital banking, credit cards, debit cards, UPI, and other digital payment methods can be registered immediately.

Citizens who fall victim to such cyber fraud can call the National Cyber Crime Helpline at 1930 or register a complaint online via the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal.
