The Portuguese head coach, who was relieved of his duties by the Premier League club earlier this year, is set for a quick reunion with his former team.

Manchester United are scheduled to face their ex-manager Ruben Amorim just months after he secured his next managerial position.

Amorim, who was dismissed by United in January while the Red Devils sat sixth in the Premier League standings, has now been appointed as the new head coach of AC Milan. He takes over from Massimiliano Allegri, who was sacked following the Serie A club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League.

Meanwhile, United achieved qualification for Europe’s elite competition for the first time since 2023, under Amorim’s predecessor at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag.

The two clubs are now set to meet in a pre-season friendly in Wroclaw, Poland, on August 15, just weeks before the start of the new Premier League season.

This match will serve as an opportunity for both sides to focus on their summer rebuilds, with United preparing to revamp Michael Carrick’s squad through several new signings.

Among United’s top targets is Atalanta midfielder Ederson, who is reportedly close to becoming their first signing of the summer after the club agreed a £38 million deal with the Italian outfit.

Another player drawing attention is Milan forward Rafael Leao, who is currently representing Portugal at this summer’s World Cup. The 27-year-old is believed to be eyeing a move away from the San Siro.

Leao recently indicated on his social media accounts that he plans to leave Milan following a disappointing season, with reports linking Manchester United among the clubs interested in acquiring his services.

According to reports, Leao has effectively issued a ‘come and get me’ message to English clubs, including United, regarding a potential move to the Premier League.

Leao scored 10 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions this season but struggled to maintain a consistent starting position under Allegri as Milan narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification on the final day of the campaign.
