Shubman Gill Fifty: In the second ODI match being played between India and Afghanistan at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, captain Shubman Gill batted brilliantly and scored his second consecutive half-century. Gill strengthened the Indian innings by showing a great mix of composure and aggression and once again proved that he is one of the most reliable batsmen of Team India.
Indian team, who came to bat first after losing the toss, did not have a good start and Yashasvi Jaiswal returned to the pavilion after scoring just 4 runs. After this Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill took over the innings. Batting in a flamboyant manner, Rohit scored 48 runs in 39 balls, which included 6 fours and 2 sixes. However, he remained just two runs away from his half-century and became the victim of Rashid Khan.
After Rohit’s dismissal, captain Gill took the responsibility on his shoulders and maintained the run pace against the Afghan bowlers. Gill scored unbeaten 71 runs on 53 balls, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes. Confidence and excellent timing were clearly visible in his batting.
At the other end, Ishan Kishan is supporting him by scoring 11 runs in 19 balls. Both the batsmen have put India in a strong position by making a useful partnership for the third wicket.
By the end of 20 overs, India had scored 136 runs at the loss of 2 wickets. The team seems to be moving towards a big score and the batsmen will try to score runs quickly in the coming overs.
