New Delhi: Mini has launched Countryman C in India at Rs 47.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The Countryman C joins the third-generation Countryman portfolio as a locally assembled petrol trim and sits below the completely imported JCW All4, undercutting its price by Rs 18.65 lakh.

The new Countryman C is assembled at BMW Group’s Chennai factory. The launch of the locally assembled Countryman C also brings pricing closer to competition, including the likes of BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3. The Countryman shares the front-wheel-drive ‘UKL2’ platform with the BMW X1, which is also being assembled in India.

Mini Countryman C: Exterior and interior

Countryman C comes as a more accessible alternative to the performance-focused 300 hp, making Countryman JCW All4

The Countryman C comes with upright proportions and rounded design elements, with cleaner body surfacing than the last generation. It comes with an octagonal grille, adaptive headlights, redesigned matrix LED tail-lamps, along with customisable light signatures for the front and back DRLs.

The Countryman C stands apart with champagne-finished accents on the grille surround, front and rear skid plates, along with matching Mini logos and Countryman badging. As standard, it rides on 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. The SUV measures 4,447mm in length, 1,843mm in width and 1,661mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,692mm and has ground clearance of 190 mm. Buyers further get the option of five exterior paints with contrasting roof colour to personalise the SUV.

Interior-wise, the Countryman C gets Mini’s minimalist cabin design with a dual-tone dashboard, circular styling cues and textile-finished dashboard and door panels. It also gets electrically adjustable JCW Sports seats upholstered in Vescin, and a 9.4-inch circular OLED touchscreen, which serves as the hub for infotainment and most vehicle functions.

Feature highlights include a head-up display, Harman Kardon 12-speaker audio system, 360-degree camera, panoramic glass roof, powered front seats with a massage function for the driver, wireless phone charging and parking assist. The SUV also gets connected car technology, MINI Digital Key Plus, ambient lighting and eight selectable MINI Experience drive modes.

The rear seats can slide by up to 130mm and recline by 25 degrees, while boot capacity stands at 505 litres and expands to 1,450 litres when the rear seats are folded.

In terms of Safety equipment, Countryman C comes with multiple airbags and an ADAS suite with features such as front collision warning, lane departure warning, driver attentiveness assist, active pedestrian protection and reversing assist. The Countryman C has also earned a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating.

Mini Countryman C powertrain

The Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine making 156hp and 240 Nm of torque, mated with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox. Power is sent to the front wheels, and Mini has said it can do 0-100 kph in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 212 kph.

The Countryman C has a fuel tank capacity of 60 litres and can do a claimed 15.92 kpl. While it is similar to the BMW X1 sDrive18i setup, it comes with a higher tune. The SUV is a more accessible alternative to the performance-focused 300 hp making Countryman JCW All4, which still comes as a CBU import.
