The weather patterns are going to change rapidly across the country. Somewhere there is going to be respite from the scorching sun, while somewhere there is a storm ready to rain like a disaster. The Meteorological Department has issued a major alert of heavy rain and storm in many states of the country from June 17 to June 23. However, the heat wave will still continue in some areas. Heavy rain in Northeast, heat wave will prevail in these states
According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of torrential rain in many areas of Northeast India, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Bihar throughout this week. But on the other hand, some states will still not get respite from the heat. There is every possibility of severe heat wave lasting till June 21 in Madhya Pradesh, till June 20 in Vidarbha, till June 19 in Telangana and till June 17, 2026 in Chhattisgarh.
When will Badra rain in these states including Delhi-Haryana and UP?
The weather is also going to change in the plains of North India. Rain is expected in Punjab between June 18 to 22 and in Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi between June 17 to 22. Whereas, if we talk about Uttar Pradesh, it may rain in Western UP on June 17-19 and then on June 23. There is a possibility of scattered rain in eastern UP during June 17-19 and June 22-23. Apart from this, isolated light to moderate rain may occur over both eastern and western parts of Rajasthan from June 17 to 23. Talking about hilly states, sporadic rain is expected in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan and Muzaffarabad between June 17-23, while Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are also expected to receive sporadic rain during this period.
Storm will move at a speed of 60 km, lightning will flash
Along with rain, there is also an alert of severe thunderstorm in many states. Strong winds with a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour may occur in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh areas during June 17-22, Himachal during June 18-19 and Uttarakhand during June 18-20, sometimes reaching 60 km per hour. At the same time, similar stormy weather will be seen in Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh and Punjab between June 18 and 22. Lightning and strong winds are expected in Rajasthan during June 17 and June 20-23.
Dust storm and hailstorm in the mountains in Rajasthan
People of Rajasthan may have to face dust storm. There is a possibility of dangerous thunderstorm with speed of 60 to 70 km per hour (gusts up to 80 km per hour) over Western Rajasthan on June 18 and Eastern Rajasthan on June 18-19. On June 19 also, winds will blow at a speed of 50-60 km in western Rajasthan. Along with this, there will be dust storm in western Rajasthan during June 17 to 19. There is also a warning for hilly areas; Hail may occur at some places in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh on June 18-19 and Himachal Pradesh during June 17-19.
Weather of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha
Movement of clouds will start in Central India also. There may be rain in Western Madhya Pradesh on June 17-19 and in East Madhya Pradesh on June 17-19 as well as on June 22-23. Showers are expected at some places in Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha from June 17 to 23. There is an alert of strong winds at a speed of 40-50 km per hour and lightning in all these areas between June 17 and 21.
Alert of very heavy rain in Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha will also get wet
The Meteorological Department has given a big warning to the people of Bihar. There is a possibility of extremely heavy rain in Bihar from June 17 to 20. Apart from this, very heavy rain may occur over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on June 23 and over Odisha on June 19. There is a possibility of strong thunderstorm with the speed of 50 to 60 km per hour in Jharkhand from 19 to 21 June, in Bihar from 18-19 June and in Odisha from 17-18 June. In the remaining days, i.e. during June 17-23, heavy rains will continue at different times in Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal along the Ganga plains. There is also a warning of heavy rain in Andaman and Nicobar Islands from June 17-23.
Weather conditions in Northeast and South India
There are chances of heavy rains in most parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura this week. These states may receive heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning during June 17 to 23, especially in Assam and Meghalaya. Whereas, if we talk about the west coast, Konkan, Goa, Central Maharashtra and Marathwada may also see sporadic rain at different places during June 17 to 23.
