WhatsApp is now a part of everyday life. All necessary work is done in this app. Fraudsters use that opportunity to trap. If you can hack the WhatsApp account, you can do it. Starting from the bank, all the information is instantly at hand. Meanwhile, many users cannot understand what to do in such a situation. As a result, the problem becomes more complicated. Let’s know today what to do to keep a cool head if you understand that WhatsApp is in the hands of a hacker.

1. If you accidentally open a suspicious APK file or link, first dial ##21# on your smartphone. In this you will know information about call forwarding and other forwarding services. If a suspicious service is running, you will know immediately. You can also turn it off.

2. Complain officially on WhatsApp. Apply for account recovery. After that an OTP will be sent to your mobile number. After taking it to the designated place, the control of WhatsApp will come back to you.

3. If you have any suspicious APK file, definitely give it to cyber police. It will be possible to find cheaters. According to the information, a complaint can be lodged in this regard at any police station (regular police station or special cyber police station).

4. Turn on ‘Two-Factor Authentication’ on WhatsApp. It requires setting up an additional PIN along with the OTP. As a result, no one can log into your WhatsApp account on their smartphone using only OTP.

5. If APK file is sent from suspicious number, report it to Govt’s ‘Sanchar Sathi’ platform with its screenshot. Government will take necessary action against that number.

What to do to protect the account?

  • Don’t download APK files sent by strangers.
  • Before clicking on any link that comes in the name of a bank or government office, check it carefully.
  • Enable 2-factor authentication on your WhatsApp account.
  • If you notice anything suspicious, call the cyber helpline number (1930) or contact the police station.
