England clinched a four-wicket victory over Ireland in a tightly contested match, marking their second win in Group B of the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 at the Rose Bowl on Tuesday. In pursuit of 119 runs, England successfully chased down the target in 17.3 overs, losing six wickets along the way. They managed to bounce back from a slight mid-innings hiccup, thanks to a steady partnership spearheaded by captain Nat Sciver-Brunt and Heather Knight.

Sciver-Brunt delivered a stellar performance, scoring 48 runs off 37 balls, including four boundaries, before being retired out as England edged closer to victory with just nine runs left to chase. Knight contributed a solid 26 runs from 23 balls, featuring two fours, while Danni Wyatt-Hodge added a smooth 16 runs off 16 balls, hitting three boundaries.

Ireland’s bowlers put up a valiant fight to keep their team in the game, with Aimee Maguire and Orla Prendergast each taking two wickets, but their efforts ultimately fell short. Earlier in the match, after being put in to bat first, Ireland managed to score only 118-9 in their 20 overs, largely due to a disciplined bowling display from England, led by Sophie Ecclestone.

Prendergast and Louise Little were the standout performers for Ireland, both scoring 26 runs. Prendergast hit four boundaries off 18 balls, while Little remained not out on 26 from 15 balls, including five fours. Alana Dalzell chipped in with 14 runs off 18 balls, and both Alice Tector and Leah Paul added 10 runs each, but Ireland struggled to build any momentum as wickets fell consistently.

Opener Amy Hunter scored six runs off five balls before captain Gaby Lewis was dismissed for a first-ball duck. Rebecca Stokell managed nine runs off 14 balls, while Arlene Kelly and Cara Murray were out for seven and one, respectively. Ecclestone was the star of the England bowling attack, finishing with impressive figures of 3-22 from her four overs.

Charlie Dean and Dani Gibson each took two wickets, while Linsey Smith and Lauren Bell chipped in with one wicket apiece. Looking ahead, Ireland will face New Zealand at the same venue on June 19, while England is set to take on Scotland in Leeds on June 20.
