Lucknow, 16 June. As preparations for the 2027 assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh intensify, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has started efforts to reactivate its strongest social equation. In the review meeting of the OBC community, party chief Mayawati, while emphasizing on strengthening the organization at the grassroots level and creating political conditions like the year 2007, clearly indicated that the backward class will be the main focus of BSP’s strategy in the upcoming elections.
BSP chief Mayawati, in a review meeting held on Tuesday, along with party officials and workers, did a detailed review of the status of the organization, support base expansion and election preparations among the OBC community. He said that the OBC community had played an important role in forming the BSP government with absolute majority in Uttar Pradesh in 2007 and the party will have to work to strengthen the same social trust again.
He instructed the workers to go to villages and towns and establish direct communication with the backward class people and connect them with the policies and social justice agenda of BSP. He claimed that the protection of the real interests and welfare of the OBC community has been ensured only in the BSP government, while other parties limited them only to electoral politics.
In the meeting, Mayawati said that during its rule, BSP worked to connect Dalits and backward classes with social respect, political participation and economic development. Referring to the issues of reservation and social justice, he said that the party has always struggled to protect the rights of the deprived sections in line with the basic spirit of the Constitution. Political analysts believe that the OBC class is once again seen playing a decisive role in the politics of Uttar Pradesh.
While BJP, Samajwadi Party and Congress are trying to woo this class in their favor, BSP is also working on a strategy to revive its traditional Dalit-OBC social alliance. In such a situation, this meeting of Mayawati is being considered an important indication of BSP’s election roadmap in the direction of Mission-2027.
