Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has become active to end the ongoing factionalism of party leaders in Pambaj. He knows that if factionalism is not ended, it can cause problems to Congress in the upcoming assembly elections. In fact, to avoid this factionalism, Congress has called 66 big leaders of Punjab to Delhi. These leaders will meet Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge.
By meeting with these leaders of Punjab, the party will find out whether there is a need to re-form the state unit before the elections or not.
Elections may be held early
This exercise is taking place at a time when discussions are going on to hold early assembly elections in Punjab. The BJP has already instructed its state units in Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Goa to prepare for the possibility of holding the assembly elections at least a month earlier to avoid clash with the census counting due in February 2027.
