Team India began their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a 64-run win over Pakistan on Sunday. Women in Blue scored 170 thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s fifty and then bowled out the opposition for 106 runs. Deepti Sharma was the best bowler with figures of 5/10 from ten overs.

Once the game was over, there was a viral video that showed the two teams getting into a physical altercation. It can be confirmed that the video in question is AI-generated and is completely fake. The video has been shared across social media with over 100,000 views. Fans were quick to point out the use of AI, while a few laughed at the poor attempt at using Artificial intelligence.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Fatima Sana didn’t shake hands once again post the toss and after the game. Indian skipper was non-committal on the entire issue just a day before the game and said her side was here to play cricket. Indian eves next face the Netherlands on Wednesday in Leeds, while Pakistan play South Africa in Birmingham.

Pakistani skipper shares her disappointment post massive loss

Chasing 171 to win the game, Women in Green started well as they were placed at 37 for no loss after four overs. Deepti Sharma’s introduction into the bowling attack changed the course of the game as the off-spinner took two wickets in her initial overs. Muneeba Ali’s 41 was the top score for the chasing side, with Aliya Riaz being the next best batter with 18 runs.

Speaking at the end of the game, Sana said, “The batting was disappointing, and we need to step up in the next few games because there is a long way to go in this tournament. We bowled well till the first 15 overs, but then gave away extra runs with the ball. Having just three fielders outside the circle also cost us. It is a young team, gaining experience from such situations, and will do well in the upcoming games.”
