India A lost a match against Sri Lanka A and also their composure. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was involved in a fight with rival players while captain Tilak Varma argued with the umpires. After 100 overs of cricket, both teams couldn’t be separated, and it was the host nation that had the last laugh in the Super Over.

After the end of the Super Over, 15-year-old Sooryavanshi lost his cool and was seen sharing words with the opposite numbers. The scene turned ugly when he pushed a Sri Lanka A player, and it was teammate Suryansh Shedge who took the youngster away.

Sri Lankan wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella tried to calm down his teammates.

Tilak started the confrontation with the officials after the match concluded. It was a perfect opportunity for India’s emerging players to show their talent, but the last hour of the game exposed their behavioral issues.

India A are now in danger of failing to qualify for the final after losing two consecutive matches, and their contest against Afghanistan A on June 17 is a must-win game.

Chasing 17 runs for a win in the Super Over, the team management made a blunder by holding back Sooryavanshi. A similar incident had happened in the final of the Rising Stars Asia Cup against Bangladesh A when the opener was not given a chance in the Super Over, resulting in zero runs.

The decision-makers repeated the same mistake. Suryansh Shedge faced pacer Kugathas Mathulan instead of Vaibhav.

Shedge managed just three runs off three balls, with the team needing 14 runs in three deliveries. Vaibhav took a double on the fourth ball and managed to hit a four on the fifth. The game was over for India as 8 runs were required in one delivery.

Mathulan bowled a yorker and led his team to a win.

Earlier, India A were dismissed for 265 in 49.2 overs, with  Shedge (72 off 66) and Vipraj Nigam (51 off 49) adding important runs to the total.

For Sri Lanka, Mohamed Shiraz and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth took three wickets each.

Sadeera Samarawickrama (93 off 113) kept the rainbow nation in the contest, but they were restricted to 265 for 9 in 50 overs. Ayush Badoni claimed two wickets.

Brief Score: India A (265-all out) tie with Sri Lanka A (265/9) in Dambulla on Monday.

In Super Over: Sri Lanka A (16 for 0) beat India (9 for 0)
