CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews PWD Projects, Calls for Faster Execution and Quality Infrastructure Development

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday directed officials to accelerate infrastructure projects and ensure their timely completion while maintaining the highest quality standards during a review meeting of the Public Works Department (PWD).
The Chief Minister reviewed ongoing and approved development projects in the Gorakhpur and Azamgarh divisions at the Annexe Building and sought detailed updates from senior officials on the progress of key road and bridge construction works.
Emphasizing a mission-mode approach, Yogi instructed officials to speed up road construction projects and ensure that all works are completed within the stipulated timelines. He particularly stressed the importance of finishing projects scheduled before the onset of the monsoon season.
During the meeting, the Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department presented a report highlighting the department’s achievements and major works undertaken over the past year.
The Chief Minister directed authorities to prioritize road projects proposed by public representatives and begin construction at the earliest so that people can benefit from improved connectivity and infrastructure.
He instructed officials to obtain all necessary approvals by the end of June and begin foundation-laying activities without delay. Yogi also emphasized the need to arrange all resources in advance to prevent disruptions during project execution.
Referring to the development roadmap for 2026-27, the Chief Minister said road construction should be prioritized across all Assembly constituencies in the Gorakhpur and Azamgarh regions.
To ensure timely funding, he directed departments to submit action plans immediately so that financial approvals can be processed without delay. He also instructed officials to complete the tendering process within the prescribed timeframe.
The Chief Minister asked Commissioners and District Magistrates to conduct regular review meetings and closely monitor project progress to ensure faster implementation.
Highlighting the importance of accountability, Yogi directed officials to carry out frequent field inspections and strengthen online monitoring through technology-driven systems.
He also placed special emphasis on safety measures in projects being executed by the Uttar Pradesh Bridge Corporation (Setu Nigam), stating that worker safety should not be compromised under any circumstances.
"Every worker at project sites must be provided with adequate safety equipment and protective gear," he said.
The Chief Minister further stressed the need for better coordination among departments involved in infrastructure development.
Yogi also reviewed the progress of the under-construction Mohan Setu bridge in Deoria district and instructed officials to expedite the project after conducting on-site inspections. He further directed authorities to closely monitor contractors who secure projects through below-tender bids and ensure strict oversight of their work quality and performance.
