Gujarat Police Recruitment Exam 2026: 2.63 Lakh Candidates Appear, AI & Facial Recognition Deployed

The written examination for recruitment to 12,733 Lok Rakshak (Police Constable) posts in Gujarat is being conducted across the state today. The exam is taking place at 789 centers and 849 schools located in major cities, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Anand, and Gandhinagar. A total of 263,345 candidates are appearing for this highly competitive recruitment test in hopes of securing a place in the Gujarat Police force.
Ahmedabad city and rural areas together account for nearly 88,700 candidates. Of these, around 44,700 candidates will appear at 146 centers in Ahmedabad city, while approximately 44,000 candidates will take the exam at 149 centers in Ahmedabad rural district.
Written Test Follows Physical Efficiency Round
According to data from the Police Recruitment Board, nearly 636,000 candidates participated in the physical efficiency test conducted earlier. More than 263,000 candidates who successfully cleared that stage have now qualified for the written examination, which consists of 200 marks and is based on multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
High-Tech Security Measures to Prevent Impersonation
To ensure transparency and security, more than 26,000 officials and staff members have been deployed across the state. This includes around 9,000 personnel from the police department and over 17,000 officials from the education department.
A Police Inspector (PI) or Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) will be stationed as a special representative at every examination center. To prevent impersonation and malpractice, authorities have implemented biometric verification, facial recognition technology, and AI-powered identity authentication systems.
The Gujarat government and the Police Recruitment Board have put in place stringent security arrangements to ensure that the recruitment process remains fair, transparent, and secure.
