New Delhi: Bharat Bhagya Viddhaata recorded a small improvement in its second-day earnings, but the film continues to face challenges at the ticket window. Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the latest drama starring Kangana Ranaut collected around Rs 1.45 crore on Saturday, taking its total India net collection to approximately Rs 2.45 crore after two days, according to trade reports.
Bharat Bhagya Viddhaata arrived in theatres with a story inspired by the bravery of medical professionals during the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. However, despite its real-life subject and a promotional push, the movie has struggled to bring audiences into cinemas.
BOGO offer fails to create major box office jumpThe makers introduced the BOGO (Buy One Get One) scheme to encourage more viewers to watch the film on Saturday. However, early trade updates suggested that the offer did not create a major change in occupancy.
Bharat Bhagya Viddhaata opened with around Rs 1 crore on Friday. The film’s second-day collection brought some growth, but it remained below the opening benchmarks of several recent releases.
Competition affects theatrical performanceThe film released alongside Diljit Dosanjh’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor and Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past.
Among the new releases, Haunted 3D emerged as the stronger performer on the opening day, while Main Vaapas Aaunga also stayed ahead of Bharat Bhagya Viddhaata in early collections.
The film was released across more than 2,000 shows nationwide, but low occupancy has affected its box office journey so far.
Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015) remains Kangana Ranaut’s last major theatrical success. Since then, her recent releases have seen modest openings in comparison. Her political drama Emergency had collected Rs 2.50 crore on day one, while Tejas had opened at Rs 1.25 crore. In that context, Bharat Bhagya Viddhaata has recorded a relatively weaker opening.
Story based on real-life courageBharat Bhagya Viddhaata revolves around the doctors, nurses and hospital staff of Mumbai’s Cama Hospital during the 26/11 terror attacks.
The film draws inspiration from nurse Anjali Kulthe’s real-life courage as she helped protect and save pregnant women during the crisis.
