Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) members are waiting for interest to be deposited in their PF account. The PF interest rate for the financial year 2025-26 has been kept at 8.25% only. Although two months have passed since the decision to keep the rate fixed, the money has not yet been credited to the members’ accounts. Now an important information has come to light in this matter.
In March 2026, the Central Board of Trustees (CBT) of EPFO had recommended 8.25% annual interest rate on EPF deposits for the financial year 2025-26. According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Labor and Employment on March 2, the CBT had recommended that interest be credited to the EPF accounts of members for this financial year.
When will the money be deposited in the PF account?
EPFO members waiting for interest deposit should keep in mind that the Employees Provident Fund Organization has not yet made any official announcement or probable date in this regard. However, if we look at the past trend of depositing PF interest, it indicates that this can happen anytime between June and September.
The interest amount is deposited in the EPFO members’ accounts only when the recommendation gets formal approval from the Central Government and its notification is officially issued. Since this process involves several steps, no fixed date for depositing the amount has been announced.
Last year, many subscribers received interest on their accounts during June and July. However, the exact time may vary. Members should also note that PF interest information does not appear together in all EPF passbooks; Some members may see the update earlier than others.
Will the delay affect interest?
The answer is no; Subscribers get full interest even if there is a delay in updating the passbook. Under Para 60 of the EPF Scheme 1952, interest on the PF account is calculated on the monthly running balance and is compounded annually. Therefore, any administrative delay in appearing of interest in the passbook does not affect the final amount received by the members.
How to check interest deposited in your PF account
EPFO provides many options for members to easily check the interest deposited in their PF account. Members can check status using Umang App, EPFO Member e-Service Portal, Missed Call Service or EPFO SMS Service.
