Trinamool Congress MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay and MP Shatabdi Roy met Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav at his residence on Motilal Nehru Marg in New Delhi on Saturday. Political speculations intensified after the pictures and videos surfaced. It is being told that the names of these two MPs were not included in the list of the alleged rebel group. Now speculation is going on whether these people will also become a part of the rebel group?
Sudeep Bandyopadhyay is an MP from Kolkata North Lok Sabha seat. His meeting with Bhupendra Yadav, who was in charge of Bengal elections amid the rebellion, is considered very important.
TMC reacted to Sudip Bandyopadhyay’s meeting. Spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, ‘Capable leaders like Tapas Roy and Sajal Ghosh left the party due to Sudip da’s personal insecurities and his lust for power and position within the party. I was earlier suspended from the party for speaking against him and in favor of senior leaders like Tapas da. Now the leadership should realize what kind of person they supported earlier.
Whatever is happening, is happening well: Tapas Roy
On the other hand, Tapas Roy also reacted to the meeting between Bhupendra Yadav and Sudip Bandyopadhyay. He said, ‘To save themselves, they have always been with those in power. He has neither done any work for the public nor for any political party. Mamta Banerjee is now realizing who is actually standing with her? For the sake of such people, many true political workers were insulted and sidelined. Whatever is happening, it is happening for good only.
Let us tell you that Tapas Roy and Sajal Ghosh were earlier part of TMC. But now he is in BJP. Tapas Roy is the Industries Minister in Suvendu Adhikari’s government and Sajal Ghosh is the MLA from Baranagar.
19 MPs have already rebelled
It is proposed to meet rebel TMC MPs with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on June 15. Before that, on June 14, rebel MPs will also hold a meeting with Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari. On Friday, rebel MP Jagdish Chandra Burma Basunia had said that he had the support of 19 MPs. His group is the real TMC. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha should recognize his group in this form. The rebel group has also asked for a separate seating area in the House. Kakoli Ghosh Dastikar is leading the rebel group.
Even in the assembly, ‘close ones’ left TMC
Apart from the Lok Sabha, TMC has also had to face rebellion in the Bengal Assembly. 64 out of 80 MLAs have formed their own faction. Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose has appointed Ritabrata Banerjee, who leads the faction, as the leader of the opposition. However, TMC has challenged the decision of the Assembly Speaker in the Calcutta High Court. TMC has not received any interim relief in the last hearing. The next hearing will be held on June 16. Assembly meeting is proposed on June 18.
