digital desk- After facing a crushing defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections, Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress is now on the verge of disintegration at the national level. There has been a huge explosion within the Trinamool Parliamentary Party in the Lok Sabha, where 19 MPs of the party have raised the bugle of rebellion and presented their claim to form a separate faction before the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. The biggest twist in this political drama came on Saturday, when one of the most senior TMC MPs and Kolkata North MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay also joined the rebel camp. On Saturday afternoon, Sudip Bandyopadhyay was seen in the same car with rebel MP Shatabdi Roy in Delhi. Both the leaders reached the residence of senior BJP leader and Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav directly from Delhi Airport, where a high-profile meeting of the rebel group has started.

Veterans arrived in the same car and same flight

According to sources, the script of this entire rebellion was being written for the last few days at the house of Union Minister Bhupendra Yadav, where the rebel MPs have held several rounds of secret meetings. This rebel camp is being led by Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar and Birbhum MP Shatabdi Roy. Sudip Bandyopadhyay left for Delhi from Kolkata on Saturday morning and interestingly, Shatabdi Roy was also present in the same flight. After landing in Delhi, both the leaders reached the Union Minister’s house in the same vehicle, which clearly tells the story of a big divide in TMC.

Sudeep was angry with Abhishek Banerjee being made the leader, may become the head of the rebel group

Party sources say that the main reason for Sudip Bandyopadhyay’s displeasure was regarding the leadership of the party in the Lok Sabha. After Saugata Roy, Sudeep is the senior most leader of TMC in the Lok Sabha and was holding the post of parliamentary party leader for a long time. But recently Mamata Banerjee removed Sudeep from this post and appointed her nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the leader of the party in the Lok Sabha. Since then, speculations were being made about Sudeep being a rebel. Sources claim that if this rebel group forms a separate party or front, then Sudip Bandyopadhyay can be made the leader of this new parliamentary party.

Rebel MPs will meet the Speaker on Monday; ‘Double blow’ to Mamata Banerjee

Rebel MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has claimed that he has the support of around 20 MPs and all these MPs want to support the BJP-led ruling NDA alliance at the Centre. A document bearing the signatures of 19 MPs also came to light on Friday. Now as per the strategy, a decisive meeting of all these rebel MPs is going to be held in Delhi on Sunday in the presence of Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly, Subhendu Adhikari. Immediately after this, on Monday all these rebel MPs will meet the Lok Sabha Speaker and demand formal recognition as a separate faction.
